How Do Stars Fly? By Deena McDaniel Positively Beautiful Blog
The whole wide world spins in space with trillions of galaxies so far away we barely can count them all. Then I glance down at the ants crawling around my plants and think about how small they are in relation to the vastness of space. Yeah, I’ve been watching documentaries on telescopes and such. The shows make me laugh because they’re constantly questioning the origin of space. NO banging only speaking. “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host.”-Psalm 33:6
I’m ignorant of how the internet functions, and how the magic device (our smartphones) makes the world’s questions answered with one click. My heart soars thinking that I was born at this time and age of technological advancements. Simple air conditioning and sliced bread are relatively new creature comforts as we investigate the world’s timeline. And looking at the rainclouds your mind can be quickly blown away. Gaze at a cumulus cloud. It's made up of about 1 million pounds of water drops. Go pick up your closest 275-million-gallon jars, you’ll catch all the water. But I hope you’re super strong. That's about 2.3 billion pounds or 1.1 million tons of water. When we say God is strong, we mean it!
Grabbing my coffee and out the door to my “oasis” which is my Florida Room, otherwise known as a screened-in back porch, I saw the most breathtaking sunrise. Brilliant colors cascaded through the palm trees. Birds began to wake. Peanut-filled cheeked fat squirrels scurried across my back fence. God’s greatness captured my soul.
It was the beginning of a dark-hearted day. Yes, even with such beautiful examples surrounding me I was filled with gloom. My dreams lately have been bombarded with nightmares and my morning mood requires reprogramming with God’s promises. The question came to mind, “How could God love me and care about everything even all the hairs on my head?” “But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.”-Matthew 10:30 Does He love me? Me personally a nobody sitting looking at the clouds?” His death took my sins? Christ’s blood makes atonement for a no-nothing granny. I don’t understand. Why would he love me so much? “Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.”-Timothy 3:16
Giggles of enlightenment overtook me as the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart. Do I know how the universe works? Do I know how computers work? Do I know how most things work? Laugh with me! Most of us could not explain many of our life’s creature comforts, but we enjoy them. We don’t have to know “how” we only need to know “who.” Who atones for your sin? SIN doesn’t mean Sure Is Nice. Sin is what keeps a person from eternal life with God himself. Christ covers that sin with his sacrifice, his atonement for what we deserve. “He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.”- 1 John 2:2
Star gazing in the city is nothing like in the country. And I’ve been told in the desert it’s even more breathtaking. God took Abram outside …“I will surely bless you, and I will multiply your descendants like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will possess the gates of their enemies.”-Genesis 22:17 The most brilliant scientists only guess on how many stars are in the universe. God knows.
We may never understand. We like Abram, may not be able to comprehend or experience this side of Heaven the overwhelming bigness of God’s greatness. “As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.”-Ecclesiastes 11:5 As the saying goes, God does not make mistakes. He made us all and he said it was good.
We may never understand many things around us, but this I know, Christ died for me. He’s calling you to repent and believe. Place your faith in the one who made you and everything around you. “By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.”- Hebrews 11:3 Mysteries are just that, mysteries.
Love Beyond the Grave by Deena McDaniel Positively Beautiful Blog STARVE THE VIRUS OUT we hear. Doing nothing is doing something. We go about our “dailies” and wonder what day it is? “We’re working on retirement muscles.” My husband cheerfully adds. Quite frankly for this stay at home, homeschooling mom, not much has changed. Well, we wash our hands more. We pray more. We swim more! We cook more. We’re blessed beyond measure, but then God blows me away one more time on how much he loves me. The mail arrived. (Read to the end for the knockout punch.) My Dad’s wife Jeannie is a retired kindergarten teacher. She’s 84. Her way of communicating is through letters. When my mom died in 2005, my dad was sure he’d find a new bride with whom he'd live out his golden years and he did. They were married 8 years before Dad died. In those 8 years I’d receive long lengthy letters from Jeannie on how Dad was doing. Her letters were great because Dad would always simply say he...
