It’s About Time by Deena McDaniel Positively Beautiful Blog 6/15/22
Answered prayers! Yes, right off the bat I’m telling you the skinny on the week. No holding back. God opened my eyes to his great glorious power. Let's swing back a few years. Rosey is 6 years old. Mary turned 18. Suddenly Mary’s a grown-up kid and on her own to fill her life with extreme adventures! In the meantime, Rosey is growing up too. These two were super close until Mary went on her way. Kids grow up and move out. I know it’s a tough reality to drift but children are made to fly the coop. They all learn by doing.
The years pass by, and Mary’s travels take her across the pond to England for a few years, but God brings her back. And back he does! The gift of God is to place children in your life and the greater gift I’m experiencing is the fruit of my labor. No not the labor pains of delivery because Mary was 26 hours of super intense labor. Rather I’m talking about the years you pour into their lives. The small incremental daily loves become this giant reward of grown-up kids. Here comes the crazy love.
Mary gets married. She has a daughter. Rosey gets married. Mary moves to the west coast of Florida from Missouri. Rosey moves to the west coast of Florida from South Florida. Two days after Rosey moves to her new apartment it’s party time! Two girls separated years ago; the Lord puts them:30 minutes apart.
Years ago, I’d only prayed for a sweet connection and now more than that, they’re hanging out! In the middle of knee swelling prayers and tears that stream like a river, I’d never given up on God. He never gives up on us. When God doesn’t do what we want when we want it, it’s for our good and His glory. Galatians 6:9- “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
I look back through my journal and I'm jaw-dropped to see the hand of God moving! Where are you at with petitions to the Lord? Asking, asking, and asking, it’s okay. He’s in the business of parting the waters!
Children are a blessing from the Lord (Ps. 127) Now full swing into summer, with them underfoot it may seem burdensome. Think again. Cherish those tiny sticky hands. Be mindful of the hormonal changes, peer pressure, and the dread of social media comparisons. Parenting is more difficult than ever.
God grabs us. For thus says the Lord God: Behold, I, I myself will search for my sheep and will seek them out.-Ezekiel 34:11
Slow down. Make life simple. The summer swooshes by and then back to the grind. Time is a commodity you never get back. Stop worrying. Start living. Stay excited! God’s on the move!
Smiles from ear to ear as I received a text from Mary and Rosey. They were at the concert of “Shakey Waffle Pants.” Oh, not the real name but this granny always forgot the real artist’s name. I’m blessed beyond measure to have experienced my journal come to life! I prayed and this time God said yes.
Have you given up on hearing from the Lord? The “phone rings” both ways. You gotta call on God first! I understand if my kids don’t call me, I can call them. Call on the Lord. Prayer is simply talking to the Lord. If Christ has taken me this far, what’s next? Our rollercoaster of life begins to make sense. It’s about time.
