Zoom
Zoom Around the Room by Deena McDaniel Positively Beautiful Blog 4/25/2020
With my closest 4,000
friends the 8-hour long zoom call extended into the darkness of the night. Stay
at home has a new meaning. All-day every day it’s the same folks in your house,
so why not engage in a Rise Up inspirational challenge call? I did! I began to
take notes. Speaker after speaker had brilliant points. At times I was on the
edge of my seat. The night closed out and it hit me. They all said the same
thing! What was it that pulled each speaker to the same “line” of inspiration?
In these days of
isolation, you have to be your best friend at times. Out and about is my mode
of operation. Suddenly the way I live crashed to a severe halt. The simple
grocery shopping became the one joy of my day, but suddenly smacked me in the
face. I HAVE to wear a mask? The joy of smiling at folks and brief interaction
screeched to a severe halt. My joy was zapped. Everyone is guarded against
everyone. Remember as a kid saying, “The boys have cooties!”
Then all the girls would run from them. I’m in a world now of stranger danger
Cootie-ville. I will not live like that. My mask has a smile.
Dragging
my saggy smile to my back-porch office I’d plugged into Zoom. Amazingly I found
the time sweep by quickly. Only because the sun started to set, I recognized
how long I’d been watching! Be me? The common theme over and over. Never quit!
The speakers promoted over and over. Why are you ____? The shout came through
my speakers over and over. Is there anything new under the sun? Nope.
(Ecclesiastes 1:9)
You
have a voice. This voice is one that at least one person needs to hear. Is it
your family, neighbor, co-worker, or complete stranger or better yet the One
that needs to hear you is the One who made you, God. Lay your burdens down.
Share your story. Make an impact. Ephesians
3:20 –“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or
think, according to the power at work within us,” Now
the impact you make isn’t dependent on the size of your platform, it’s
determined by how God wants to use you. Open up a conversation with God
right now. Stop and pray. Did you?
The experiences I’ve
trudged through are not unique. You might be able to relate to the way I’ve
overcome the obstacles. You may be able to relate to the unique angles
I've made. You might be able to relate to these things...or not? Each
not so magical moment in your life quickly explodes into magic when the ears of
another person fall upon your story. Tell it. When the Holy Spirit moves on
your heart there’s a reason. Pushing down that beach ball under the water it
always pops up! So does the call on your life. Your call could be to raise the
next world leaders or garbage collectors. All vocations are a lifeline. Each
and every person born has a call on their life. You discover that “call” when
you listen, move and share.
Listen to that still
small voice, because the inner voice is the Holy Spirit guiding you. Move into
action by learning more of that specific thing that brings you joy! Share the
knowledge of what you’ve learned as you teach others. Our scale of success
isn’t determined by the “likes” we have on our page or the subscribers to our
YouTube channel (speaking to myself here) it’s about walking in the calling.
We’ve all heard it said, “God doesn’t call the equipped, he equips the
called.” And I’ll say it again, we are ALL called to something.
Most of my adult life I’ve been the “stay at home” mom. Day in
and day out living the hamster wheel of adventure. Have I traveled the world?
Nope. Have I traveled to the grocery store? Yep, many times. Just like you and
all those on the Zoom call, our commonality is being human. We get old. Our
knees crunch. The sun rises and sets. All of those “famous” people on the call
see the same sun everyday. We live in the “dash” between the dates of birth and
death. Light up the darkness one life at a time. Matthew 7:12 “So
whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the
Law and the Prophets.” Be that friend who you want someone to
be. Zoom out of your comfort zone. Make that call. Write that text. Listen for
His voice. Are you ready for the CHALLENGE CALL? Rise up because Christ
is calling you right now. Be you.
