In the past two years we’ve ALL watched way more TV series than we care to admit. And if you’re not a fan of television, but I suspect you are, you’ve read books with very interesting characters. Our hearts begin to connect to these fictional people. One season or chapter after the next and suddenly it’s over. Over? What’s happening? We want more. When it’s done it’s done, then you must move on.
Chapters in our lives end. Each person has a story. The lives of some individuals seem to be perfect and colorful with one adventure after another. Then others seem to drag through one hardship after another. The lives of people are as individual as our fingerprints.
How does it make you think when you want to know the outcome quickly? If I’m watching a show by myself, I simply fast forward. Yes, I do miss some of the dialogue, but I also miss the waiting. Often, I miss the sadness and tragedies, but I see what happens immediately. Just like that I’ve found out the ending and on to the next movie. Don’t miss out on your life by wishing the worries away. We do feel like it’s easier to skip the hardships, but our story isn’t complete unless we live out what God’s set out.
Soon we’ll be the classic “empty nesters.” On March 12th, 2022, our daughter Rosey will be given away. To have and to hold from this day forward…Desmond Collins takes her to become one. Their lives, our lives, the world’s order will change forever. Yes, the world. No matter how you think you might be insignificant to the grand scheme of things, God thinks differently. Our impact is clear. Drop a single drop of water in a pond and it affects the water around it. Rings of ripples push out. Our story, written by God, isn’t by happenstance. Most of us will not have that visible outlandish obvious impact that will change the world. However, the tapestry of our lives and who we touch with God’s love will be revealed in Heaven. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. Matt. 10:29-31
Reality hits as we watch war develop. I’m not afraid, rather I’m looking just like you and wondering. What is God doing? He’s allowing the destruction of Ukraine? He makes nations great, and destroys them; he enlarges nations, and disperses them. Job 12:23 We’re not God and he doesn’t have to tell us his “why” on any move he makes. However, we are required to do our part. Pray.
Watching and waiting and not being able to fast forward through trials, our helpless hearts buckle under pressure. But God! He never sleeps. He’s constantly working. Working on our hearts, our land, and His kingdom!
The final chapter is written. None of us knows the exact hour of the Lord’s return, but we do know he is coming back to claim his bride. Are you in the Lamb’s Book of Life? If you’ve given your life to follow the King, you’re on the list. If you’re wondering if this life is all you get and then you sleep forever, think about it strongly. Research to see if God’s word is true. Many books have been written trying to disarm the Gospel, but all have failed. Is this war a wake-up call to his Kingdom?
Quite frankly, every day is a wake-up call for the possibility of the end of your life. I’m not trying to scare you, but all our days are numbered. From war to a heart attack, to cancer to being hit by a car the catastrophic events are threatening. Do not be afraid. We live our lives and God directs our steps. (Prov 16:9)
The choice is clear. Be content on the days given. Our home will transition to a different dynamic on March 13th. Our King Jesus never changes. I put my hope, trust, confidence, and love in knowing the story of my life is written on the palm of His hand.
